Microprocessor controlling and diagnostic system of diesel locomotives

The system is used in shunting diesel locomotives which are controlled by the multiple-unit system with one or two power plants each. 

The functions of the system are described further. The range of functions may be enlarged or changed in accordance with the customer’s request and the peculiarities of the diesel locomotive.

Controlling unit CU-7A

Functions:

  • Regulation of voltage and power of traction generator, current excitation of traction motor in traction and electric braking regimes.
  • Control over contactors of attenuation of traction motor excitation and.
  • Control over the electric scheme of the diesel locomotive.
  • Control over the drive motor of the compressor.
  • Control over the compressed air drying system.
  • Control over the blowers of the cooling system.
  • Control over operating regimes of diesel locomotive equipment.
  • Protective functions
  • Diagnostic of the main systems of the diesel locomotive and controlling system and transmission of information about alarms and the condition of diesel locomotive equipment (on demand).
  • Collecting and storage of diagnostic information. 
  • Providing exchange of information by the serial communication channel between the units of the system.

Functions:

Giving braking-control signals of the diesel locomotive: - “More”, “Less”, “Quick reset”, movement direction, regimes “Traction/Brake”, position indication.

Functions:

Conversion of controlling signals from the controlling unit control over the rectifier unit by thyristors into totally unleashed controlling signals.

Conversion of sinusoidal voltage of the exciter and its transmission to the controlling unit.

Conversion of signals coming in by input channels of direct and alternating current into totally unleashed output current signals.

Identification of current coordinates and speed of the diesel locomotive in real time.

Technical characteristics

  • The system corresponds to the all-Union State Standard 9219, technical conditions and the set of documentation .
  • The climate design of  units corresponds to the all-Union State Standard 15150 for relative humidity 80% (20x5)oC under operating temperature:
  •     - 50…60oC for CU-7A
  •     - 40…60oC for other units 
  • The system can work after being under -60…+60oC
  • Operating conditions under outside mechanic factors, protection degree correspond to the all-Union State Standard.
  • The system and its equipment are proof to outside interferences appearing from commutation of electric equipment of the diesel locomotive.
  • The system doesn’t produce interferences which can spoil operation of the automatic alarm system of the diesel locomotive, radio stations, electric speedometer, wire communication lines and other safety devices. The interferences produced by the system are not more than discussed in Norms 8-95.
  • The units of the system (except those which are discussed in the next paragraph) are power supplied from the board circuit (110V of constant current) keeping operability and all the options under 70-140V. 
  • Display module, the driver’s unit, rectifier controlling unit, rectifier controlling unit, the set of detectors and measuring converters are power supplied from built-in stabilized constant current sources with 24x0,5V.
